Not everyone wants to buy and maintain a spare Mac. Renting one by the month is a simple alternative, and this note explains what that looks like in practice.
CCRent rents dedicated Mac mini M4 machines with 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. Each one is assigned to a single customer and is never shared. The machines are hosted overseas on residential broadband with their own IP and 500 to 1000 Mbps of bandwidth. You pick a region at checkout: North America, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia.
Software comes preinstalled: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Xcode, Homebrew, Git and the usual developer tools. A Claude Max 5x or 20x plan is active on the machine, subscribed through official channels. You reach the machine either through a remote desktop app (UU Remote, ToDesk or RustDesk) or through Tailscale and SSH.
An always-on machine suits long tasks: overnight refactors and test runs with Claude Code, launchd or cron jobs, and Xcode builds for iOS and macOS apps all keep running while you are away.
Plans are billed monthly and do not auto-renew. Max 5x costs 1,888 CNY a month, Max 20x costs 3,888 CNY a month, and teams can ask for a custom quote. The Mac is delivered within a week of payment, with 24-hour support. The provider also replaces the account if it stops working under normal use, and the lost days are added to the term.
